Keep the background even and free of visible shadows.
Face forward with eyes visible and a natural expression.
How do I make this photo?
- Keep the preselected Vietnam Tourist visa preset.
- Choose a recent, clear portrait with one front-facing subject.
- Review the automatic straight full-face portrait without glasses framing and keep the background plain white.
- Use only edits permitted by the issuing authority, then export the 800 × 1200px JPEG.
What should I check before submission?
- Confirm the portrait represents the applicant’s current appearance.
- Check both eyes are visible and avoid blur, glare, hard shadows or covered facial features.
- Compare the exported crop with the authority source; correct dimensions alone do not guarantee acceptance.
- Use background or quality tools only when the authority permits them and the likeness remains natural.
- Keep the final file at or below 2048 KB.
What file will Photo Pass create?
The digital download is a JPEG cropped to 800 × 1200 pixels. You can also prepare a 300 DPI A4, A5 or 6 × 4 inch print sheet using the physical 40 × 60 mm size. Review printer scaling and disable “fit to page” when exact physical dimensions are required.
Who reviewed this requirement?
The Photo Pass editorial team checked the preset against the linked issuing-authority material on 9 August 2026. The review covers dimensions, background, head placement, format, file-size limits and stated editing restrictions. Requirements can change, so the authority source remains the final reference.
Read the verification methodology or report an inaccurate requirement.
Why might a correctly sized photo be rejected?
Common causes include an old or altered portrait, an incorrect expression, closed or obscured eyes, uneven lighting, a visible shadow, low resolution, an unapproved background or a crop that does not match the required head position. Application channels can also impose a different file limit or capture process.
What is specific to this tourist visa?
Vietnam’s current Ministry of Public Security e-Visa form requests a newly taken 4 × 6 cm JPG or JPEG portrait under 2 MB, facing straight ahead without a hat or glasses. The portrait upload is separate from the passport data-page image.
Tourist-visa applications are often filed online but may still require a printed photograph at an appointment. Confirm the destination, application centre and visa category. A passport photograph from another country is not automatically interchangeable with the destination visa format.
Checked against the issuing authority
