Choose the exact visa route first
Tourist, temporary-work, employment and sponsored visit routes can request different documents and filing methods. Royal Oman Police pages for tourist and temporary work visas identify two 4 × 6 cm photographs, but the surrounding requirements are different.
Confirm whether you are applying personally online, through a sponsor, employer, hotel or authorised organisation. That determines whether the photo is uploaded, printed or provided with a physical application.
Framing and appearance
Use a recent, clear, front-facing colour portrait with the complete face visible and a neutral expression. Keep the head upright and centred. Allow enough space around the hair and chin for the taller 40 × 60 mm crop.
Avoid blur, red-eye, hard shadows, an open mouth or a head turned away from the camera. Do not reuse a small image stretched to fit the larger format.
Background and print quality
Use a clean, plain background and even light. The employment preset uses white based on the corresponding authority workflow, while some tourist material uses more general “personal photograph” wording. When the form gives a specific colour, that instruction controls.
For paper applications, print on photo-quality paper at actual 40 × 60 mm size. Disable automatic page scaling and measure a test print before preparing the requested quantity.
Digital preparation
A 4:6 crop has a 2:3 aspect ratio. Photo Pass prepares the reviewed Oman preset at 800 × 1200 pixels, which preserves that ratio. A specific online form may impose its own file-size ceiling, filename rule or upload format.
Keep the original portrait and compare the generated file with the live application screen. If the portal requests a different value, follow the portal rather than forcing the existing output.
