Saudi Arabia visa photo requirements

Check the Saudi visa 2 × 2 inch photo size, white background, recency, pose and print-handling guidance before applying.

Saudi visa photo requirements at a glance

Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs embassy guidance describes a passport-style photograph measuring 2 × 2 inches, with the applicant facing the camera directly against a white background. The photo must be recent and no older than six months. Some mission checklists request two prints.

Saudi visa document lists vary by visa category and diplomatic mission. Confirm the number of photographs and attachment method with the embassy, authorised centre or application portal handling your case.

Pose and framing

Use a full-face view with the applicant facing the camera directly. Side and angled views are not accepted under the published embassy guideline. Keep the head upright and centred, with the complete face clearly visible.

Use a neutral, natural expression and a sharp image. Leave enough room around the head so that printing at 2 × 2 inches does not crop the hair, chin or shoulders.

White background and lighting

The background must be white. Photograph the applicant in front of a clean, evenly lit surface and keep sufficient distance from the wall to prevent a hard shadow. Choose clothing that remains distinguishable from the white background.

If the original background is unsuitable, taking a new photo is safer than creating a visible digital cut-out. The final portrait should remain a natural likeness.

Print quantity and attachment

Some current Saudi mission pages request two recent passport-size photos. The older detailed photo guideline instructs applicants to use tape, a paper clip or one staple rather than glue, and to keep any staple away from the face, forehead and clothing.

These handling rules are mission-specific. Use the exact checklist for your application location instead of assuming every embassy uses the same attachment method.

Before you print

  • Confirm whether your application needs physical photos, a portal upload or both.
  • Check that the selected size is 51 × 51 mm rather than 35 × 45 mm.
  • Use photo-quality paper when a printed photograph is requested.
  • Print at actual size and disable “fit to page”.
  • Keep a clean spare copy if the mission requests more than one photograph.

Different visa types may use different checklists

Tourist, employment, family, residency and pilgrimage visa processes do not necessarily request the same supporting documents. The photo standard may look similar, but the quantity, upload workflow and appointment process can differ.

Prepare the image only after selecting the exact visa category. A correct crop does not confirm visa eligibility or replace the rest of the application.
