Singapore photo requirements at a glance
Singapore Form 14A asks the entry-visa applicant to provide a recent passport-size photograph. ICA’s current digital photo guidance recommends 400 × 514 pixels for e-Service uploads and uses a 35 × 45 mm printed format, with a plain white background and a clear natural likeness.

The local contact, authorised visa agent or Singapore mission may control the actual entry-visa submission workflow. Use its checklist together with Form 14A.
Head position and visibility
Face the camera directly with the head upright and centred. Singapore photo guidance uses a head height of approximately 25–35 mm from chin to crown for a 35 × 45 mm portrait. Keep both eyes open and clearly visible.
Use a neutral expression and avoid hair, heavy frames or accessories that obscure the face.
Background, lighting and clothing
Use a plain white background with no shadows, objects or pattern. If the applicant has white hair, ICA guidance may allow a light-grey background for sufficient contrast in relevant identity-document workflows; follow the visa agent’s instruction for entry-visa submissions.
Keep the lighting even, the image sharp and skin tones natural. Wear clothing that contrasts with the background.
Do not enhance or alter the photo
ICA states that the photograph must not be altered or enhanced, including modification of facial features. Do not use beauty filters, face slimming, eye enlargement, skin smoothing or AI reconstruction.
Resizing and careful cropping are different from retouching, but a poor source photo should be retaken rather than heavily repaired.
File formats and upload
ICA’s online-photo guidance accepts JPG, JPEG, HEIC, HEIF and PNG files up to 8 MB for supported e-Services. The Photo Pass preset exports JPEG at 400 × 514 pixels.
An authorised visa channel may impose a different filename, format or upload step. Check the live form immediately before submitting.
Singapore visa photo checklist
| Check | Expected result |
|---|---|
| Application form | Correct current Form 14A and authorised submission channel |
| Dimensions | 400 × 514 px online preset or 35 × 45 mm print |
| Background | Plain white unless the responsible channel states otherwise |
| Face | Front-facing, centred, unobstructed and natural |
| Editing | No filters, enhancement or facial-feature changes |

Selfies and phone photographs
ICA does not recommend selfies because close phone capture can produce poor framing and facial distortion. Ask another person to take the picture from eye level, keep the camera steady and use soft frontal light.
Turn off automatic filters and portrait beautification before taking the photo.
