Vietnam eVisa photo requirements at a glance
The current Vietnam National Electronic Visa system requests a newly taken portrait in 4 × 6 cm proportions. The file must be JPG or JPEG and smaller than 2 MB. The applicant must face straight ahead, wear no hat or glasses, use formal clothing and stand against a white background.

Use the current Ministry of Public Security site at evisa.gov.vn. Older official portal pages can show different historical upload limits, so the live application form should control.
Portrait and passport-page images are different
The eVisa form asks for a portrait photograph and a separate image of the passport data page. Do not upload the passport scan into the portrait field, and do not crop the small printed passport portrait for reuse.
The portrait must be a newly taken image that clearly identifies the applicant.
Pose and appearance
Look straight at the camera with the head upright and the full face visible. Remove eyeglasses and hats. Use a natural expression and keep the image sharp, evenly exposed and free of shadows.
The official form mentions formal clothes. Choose simple clothing that contrasts with the white background and does not cover the face or neck area.
4 × 6 cm crop and digital export
A 4 × 6 cm portrait uses a 2:3 aspect ratio. The Photo Pass preset exports 800 × 1200 pixels, which preserves that ratio, as a JPEG below the published 2 MB ceiling.
Do not confuse the 4 × 6 cm portrait with a landscape 6 × 4 inch print. Verify that the file is upright before uploading.
Background and editing
Use a plain white background with even light and no visible objects. Avoid aggressive background replacement, filters, skin smoothing or facial modifications. The image should remain a truthful and natural likeness.
If hair edges, shadows or image quality require extensive repair, take a new photo instead.

Use only the official eVisa website
Third-party sites can look similar to the government application. Check that the service is operated by Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security and review the current form before paying or uploading identity documents.
